Speed Bias Housing

 

 

blupointscan was approached by an aircraft restoration outfit to scan and reverse engineer an obsolete magnesium Speed Bias casting originally manufactured by Hamilton Standard and used in the Hercules C-130 aircraft. The goal was to reproduce this obsolete part as a "design intent" part.

 

The part was scanned, reverse engineered to a "design intent" level with all the machined surfaces offset. The data set was then used to manufacture a casting tool for a new magnesium part ready for machining.
