Essex Wire 1965 Shelby Cobra 427
CSX 3009
blupointscan was given the task of scanning a very rare and historic Shelby Cobra 427. This particular car is chassis CSX 3009, which has been labeled as the winningest Cobra. It was originally campaigned in 1965 under the sponsorship of Essex Wire, Ford Motor Companys largest supplier at the time. Essex Wire campaigned the car only one year before moving to a Ford GT-40, but the 427 continued to race at the professional level and at club events until the mid 80's. The new owner of the car planned a complete restoration to the original condition at McKluskey Ltd. in Torrance, CA.
We completed a full exterior body scan of the car while the body shell was still in primer along with scanning much of the chassis and inner steel reinforment bracing. The multiple scan files were aligned and merged together to a finished product for the scale model fabrication team.
